We have put a list together of the best cars for 2018. Scroll down and have a look!
Volvo XC40
- Price: £27,095
- On sale: Spring 2018
The first car in our list of ‘best cars for 2018’ is the Volvo XC40, which is the third instalment in the Volvo SUV range. Although it’s not as big as it’s family members – the XC60 and 90 – it’s chunkier and more snazzy looking on the inside. You could say that the XC40 is considered the ‘baby’ of the range. The SUV has swayed from its families elegant look and took on a sporty exterior with driftwood interior touches and chrome highlights. The SUV will be presented with 3 petrol and 2 diesel engines with a manual or automatic gearbox. It’s been said that the new XC40 will compete with the Audi Q3, Jaguar E-Pace and BMW X1.
Toyota Gazoo Racing Supra
- Price: estimated £50,000
- On Sale: Late 2018
Later this year, the new Toyota Gazoo Racing Supra will be launched. It will go head to head with its main rivals: the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type and BMW M4. The Supra has been around since the late 70s, but the car’s fame boomed throughout the 90s due to its roaring 6-cylinder engines. New leaked reports have suggested that the new Supra’s 6-cylinder engine weighs just under 1,500 kg, allowing the car to hit an impressive 62 mph in 3.8 seconds with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Whether the car offers a manual gearbox is still unclear. The Supra will be presented as a coupe, with a 4-cylinder vehicle offered also.
Nissan Juke
- Price: estimated £15,000
- On Sale: 2018
The original Nissan Juke was the top-runner for a good period of time. The super-mini SUV has come a long way since being launched, however, the motors fame has dwindled since the introduction of the Audi Q2 and Renault Captur.
But, Nissan haven’t given up the fight yet.
The next-generation Nissan Juke Mk2 is set to launch at some point this year. The interior is set for a huge makeover, with high-quality materials and fabrics. The motor is also set to move to an all-new platform. For years the Juke had been using the B0 frame from the Renault-Nissan alliance, until now. Rumour has it that the new Juke is switching to the Alliance’s Common Module Family CMF-B platform.
Switching to the CMF-B will offer a new range of engines for the Juke:
- 5-litre diesel engine.
- 6-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
- 0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engines.
Mercedes A-Class
- Price: estimated £20,000
- On Sale: March 2018
If you think you’ve seen the best of Mercedes cars, then think again.
The new Mercedes A-Class will land in the UK during March this year. The motor is set to go up against the BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Golf. The new A-Class will deliver new sportier features while still having a luxury feel. The new model will come with two engines, both with turbocharged units. The interior is also being revamped, adding extra space inside for more elbow, shoulder and headroom. The driver and passengers will also appreciate the bigger boot compartment, allowing space for large items to be stored.
Land Rover Discovery SVX
- Price: estimated from £100,000
- On Sale: Mid 2018
If you currently own a Land Rover Discovery, then you probably know the motor lacks in the “off-road” department.
Well, that was until Jaguar Land Rover’s special vehicles department (SVO) got their hands on the Discovery. With a new rugged look and larger wheels with a diameter of 815mm, the now ‘off-road’ motor is the first to hold the SVX title. Plus, the new Discovery is powered by a 5.0-litre V8. The vehicle definitely deserves a spot in our ‘Best cars for 2018’ list.
Jaguar I-Pace
- Price: estimated £55,000
- On Sale: Summer 2018
Jaguar, without a doubt, are upping their game. Not only is the new I-Pace a spacious SUV, but it’s also an electronic model. The motor only takes 45 minutes for an 80% charge with a 100kW DC rapid charger. The new model will go up against the Audi Q8 e-tron and Tesla Model X in the electric SUV market.
Dacia Duster
- Price: estimated from £10,000
- On Sale: summer 2018
The new Dacia Duster has had a complete makeover, with the windscreen brought forward by 100mm, increasing the width of the wheelbase and raising the height of the bonnet to allow more room for passengers. The model has a more aluminium look, with a honeycomb styled grille and LED daytime running lights. Let’s not forget the new modern features added to the Duster, such as the reversing camera and an all new safety kit. The model also has upgraded engines: a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. You will have the choice of 2 or 4-wheel drive and a manual or automatic gearbox.
BMW 3 Series
- Price: estimated £27,000
- On Sale: Late 2018
BMW has made some changes to the new 3 series that’s due to launch late this year. Although the changes are small, passengers are not to be disappointed with the improvements. The new motor’s technology will be similar to BMW’s 7 series.
Audi A6
- Price: estimated from £35,000
- On Sale: spring 2018
Another motor that’s considered one of the best cars for 2018 is the new Audi which is set to have a MLB platform, that is used for the A8. You will have the option of a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine or a 4.0-litre V8 turbocharged engine. The new electrical tech is to sway buyers away from its main rivals: the Jaguar XF, BMW 5 series and Mercedes E-Class. The A6 will be available in 2 or 4-wheel drive form.
